UPVC Spray Painting Jay Spearing’s House
We were recently contacted by Jay Spearing of Blackpool Football Club to spray paint the UPVC on his house. Jay’s been renovating his home and asked us to spray paint the UPVC to change the colour and protect the plastic underneath.
We met with Jay to survey his house and scope out the work needed. The house (as you might expect) is larger than average with over fifteen windows. It also has a few external doors and an attached double garage. Curiously, the guttering and doors on his house were dark but the windows were white. Jay wanted to make everything unison, so a darker colour was preferred. This would also contrast well with the white render walls.
We recommended a few different colours for the project. Jay opted for one of our most popular colours, RAL7016 Anthracite Grey (RAL Classic) with a satin (30% shine) finish. The work was booked in after our survey for the following week.
The work
We began by cleaning the UPVC of dirt and grime to create a clean, smooth surface for the paint to adhere to. Jay Spearing’s windows weren’t too dirty, so they only needed a light clean.
After the UPVC was cleaned, we masked it off. This takes time and patience, because any misaligned tape will lead to an imperfect job.
Once the masking process was complete, we got to work painting the UPVC. We use a powerful, state-of-the-art electric spray painter gun with a unique nozzle system that we developed to provide even coverage. We spray paint three coats onto UPVC, leaving at least 30 minutes between each coat to allow it to dry.
We sprayed the UPVC one window at a time, working our way around the house. Over fifteen windows required spray painting. We applied three coats to every window and any UPVC trim that was white. The painting process took us two days – we completed one half of the house on day one and the other half on day two.
For the finishing touch, we resealed all the windows with a matching anthracite grey silicon. This is an essential step to blend the work together and make it appear as though the windows and UPVC trim were installed in that colour originally. You can’t tell the windows have been painted and that’s the finish we always look for.
Jay Spearing’s is delighted with how his house looks and we’re delighted with it too. If you like our work, call us on 0800 037 0658 or email us at info@bespokeupvcsprayers.co.uk for a quote on your own home. Thank you.
