Should you replace your door or get it painted? Good question!
If your door is mechanically sound, i.e. it operates just fine and is secure, we say replacing it is a waste when you could get it painted. If you replaced it at this stage, you’d effectively be replacing it well before the end of its usable life.
To which we’d ask, to what end?
If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your UPVC or composite door (perhaps because the colour doesn’t match your windows, or because the colour doesn’t match other doors on the street) getting it painted is a better solution.
Not only will this stop you throwing a perfectly good door away, it will save you a heap of money too. The average cost of a good, mid-range UPVC door is £800. Composite doors are pricier still. The cost to have your door professionally spray painted, inside and out, with the frame (if you like), is circa £230 up to £280.
That price is for a standard front door. If you want your patio doors spraying, the price rises to around £350 or £400 for bi-fold doors.
